This high-tech hairbrush is based on a popular spa therapy which uses light and massage to boost hair growth. It’s claimed that gentle massage and red light will increase blood flow, helping to deliver nutrients which will strengthen hair.
The scientific basis is complete snake oil – research indicates it’s true that hair loss can be slowed or reversed using red light, but it needs to come from a carefully calibrated laser, not a cheap red LED.
Still, this light-up massaging brush feels lovely to use. It may help combat scalp issues. Or just soothe your head. Powered by 2 AA batteries, the brush has 3 settings: light only, massage only, and both together.
The massage setting gives a lovely tingle from the vibrating metal tines. It’s great to use just before showering, because the vibration seems to shake loose the dirt in your scalp, allowing you to get cleaner when you shampoo.
As for the LEDs around the edge…well, if you’re the kind of person who takes selfies while you’re getting ready to go out, you’ll enjoy posing with your light-up hairbrush. The lights have no practical purpose but they look cool.
