Connecting your iPad to your Mac has improved with the genesis of the Duet Display app. Previously, hooking up your iPad to your mac was done with an app and a wireless connection which was known to ocassionally produce laggy performance.
The Duet Display app makes use of a standard iPad charging cable resulting in lag-free connectivity. ZDnet testers did find that in some cases Youtube videos did lag a bit but only at the beginning of the video. Other reviewers found that switching to Retina resolution made Duet’s CPU usage spike becoming problematic for the Mac.
Despite these shortcomings most agree this app to be a major improvement over existing apps. Those who have previously worked with a two monitor setup know what a productivity boost it can generate. Some may also appreciate the abiltity to control their Mac with touch.
Duet Display is available in the App store.
